Refresh Mechanism
Restore your privacy after partial exposure with Untrace's refresh system.
Why Refresh?
Even with privacy features, some exposure is inevitable:
- Interacting with exchanges or KYC services
- Protocol interactions that log addresses
- Receiving funds from known sources
- Timing correlation attacks
The refresh mechanism allows you to restore your anonymity after these exposures.
How Refresh Works
Step 1: Detection
Untrace monitors your assets for exposure events and alerts you when your Privacy Exposure Score increases.
Step 2: Initiation
Click "Refresh" on any asset with elevated exposure.
Step 3: Withdrawal
Assets are withdrawn to a fresh disposable wallet.
Step 4: Waiting Period
The system waits for the anonymity set to grow. This can be:
- Fast (1 hour): Minimal additional privacy
- Standard (24 hours): Good anonymity set growth
- Deep (7 days): Maximum privacy restoration
Step 5: Re-deposit
Assets return to the shielded pool with fresh cryptographic parameters.
Refresh Strategies
Standard Refresh
- Wait time: 24 hours
- Privacy gain: ~40-60 point reduction
- Cost: Standard gas fees
Deep Refresh
- Wait time: 7 days
- Privacy gain: ~70-90 point reduction
- Cost: Standard gas fees
Instant Refresh
- Wait time: None
- Privacy gain: ~10-20 point reduction
- Cost: Premium fee to privacy pool
Automatic Refresh
Enable auto-refresh to maintain privacy automatically:
- Go to Settings → Privacy
- Enable "Auto-Refresh"
- Set your threshold (e.g., score > 50)
- Set preferred strategy
Untrace will automatically refresh assets that exceed your threshold.
